My boyfriend Elliot is 16 and has strep throat ALL the time! It’s gotten to the point where he has it so often that the antibiotics he’s been on is causing him terrible stomach cramps. I’m over at his home appropriate now. He’s asleep correct next to me with a 103.4 degree fever along with a throat the color of a fire engine. Last time I went with him to the doctor, they told him that the next time he got it, he would have to have his tonsils removed. Elliot hates medical professionals of any sort. He’s going to the physician tomorrow whether he likes it or not, and I know that those tonsils will have to come out. I’ll chain him to a gurney if I have to.
Are there any pre-surgery precautions I really should take? How excruciating is the recover process? What will I need to expect after the surgery, like tips on how to take care of him?
Or much better yet, is there any successful alternative to a tonsillectomy?
